Eskom is offering free installation of energy-saving products to homeowners for a limited period.

The products offered by Eskom's Residential Mass Roll-out Programme include CFLs (compact fluorescent lamps), LEDs (light emitting diode downlights), efficient-flow shower heads, pool pump timers and geyser timers.

The only costs are if incompatible fittings must be replaced to accommodate new energy saving bulbs.

At present there is only one supplier, Karebo Systems, that is offering the service until December 2012. After that, the tender process for other suppliers will recommence; we will provide updates on the process and if and when more suppliers become available.

See also Eskom Integrated Demand Management for info.
