This is a very broad category covering shoes for casual strolling to speed walking. Walking shoes have less cushioning under the heel as walking creates less impact on heel strike. However, there is more contact with the ground as the foot rolls from the heel to the toe so that the sole is flat under the arch area and is very flexible to aid the natural gait.
Generally made with leather uppers, exercise walking shoes comprise a very small category and very few models are available in South Africa.
