Winter is almost over and it’s time to get your body beach-ready. During winter it is just too comfortable sitting in front the fireplace with a good book, and now it's almost time to start working out again.
But it’s often difficult to get inspiration to hit the gym. Often, we need that initial boost. There are some pointers to make your work-out fun again, such as playing sport or exercising with a friend, switching the location or treating yourself to something completely new.
If that doesn't work, you can just look at how the stars do it. We take a look at eight celebrities who have a perfect body and what their exercise routines entail.
Zac Efron
The first time we took notice of Zac Efron was when he played heartthrob Troy Bolton in High School Musical in 2006. Since then, the 28-year-old has clearly been hitting the gym and in the trailer for Baywatch, which is to be released next year, Zac shows off his toned body on the beach.
According to Business Insider the actor followed an intense work-out programme and diet to star in this movie, including: lifting weights to work out his back and biceps; a “Ninja Warrior”-like training course and “nine days of absolutely zero carbs and sugar”. Zac also loves sharing his journey with fans on Instagram to keep him motivated.
Channing Tatum
Who can forget that moment when Channing Tatum ripped off his shirt in Magic Mike? The 36-year-old actor’s trainer told The Daily Mail he got that body in just 10 weeks and did so “doing water burpees, running six miles a day and eating every two hours”.
Hugh Jackman
If you want to play the superhero Wolverine, you can’t help but be exceptionally fit. Hugh Jackman might be 47 years old, but many women still swoon over his muscular body. Hugh was so dedicated to looking the part for this movie that fans started calling his diet and exercise regimen “The Wolverine Diet”. Jackman told Men’s Health he did a lot of deadlifts (a lift made from a standing position, without the use of a bench or other equipment) and in one Instagram photo he picked up a 210 kg steel bar. While experts warn against this type of exercise, the hormonal boost can be a shortcut to that perfect body.
Jamie Foxx
Jamie Foxx (48) has always been proud of his body, and in an interview with Men’s Fitness the Oscar-winning actor revealed that his muscular physique is due to regular workout sessions that include 45 minutes of weight training and basketball drills.
Madonna
The 58-year-old singer, also known as the Queen of Pop, is still rocking it on stage and manages to pull off unbelievable stunts. According to New York Magazine she follows a very strict macrobiotic diet in which one is not allowed any wheat, eggs, meat or diary. She also works out for at least 30 minutes, six days a week. Some days she does circuit training and other days she does yoga, martial arts and boxing.
Jessica Alba
Since playing a stripper in Sin City, Jessica Alba (35) has drawn attention to her well-toned body. Her personal trainer told Shape Magazine she trains five hours a day and the sessions run from 60 to 90 minutes. The routine starts off with hip-hop dancing, leaps and turning; and morphs into intense leg and muscle exercises.
Jennifer Lawrence
With big blockbuster movies behind her name, Jennifer Lawrence is the talk of the town. But the 26-year-old actress is also getting people’s attention with something completely different: her well-toned body. According to HollywoodLife Jennifer loves to indulge in junk food like pizza and fries, but then manages to focus when she has a big role coming up. Apparently cardio is the secret to her perfect body and she does five to 10-minute warm-up exercises, followed by a higher intensity workout for 20 minutes.
Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting
We all know her as the sweet, but cheeky Penny from The Big Bang Theory, but when Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting (30) is not sweating it out on set, she loves doing yoga. “It took years for me to figure out what my body needs, and that what works for my friends doesn't necessarily work for me. Doing yoga five times a week has transformed my body. I love being toned and having muscle; it's so sexy and beautiful,” the actress told Shape Magazine.
