Dear Sithe
There are a number of possible causes for feeling hungry 3 hours after a meal, namely: 1)Problems with your insulin metabolism such as hypoglycaemia or insulin resistance. 2) Not eating sufficient food to satisfy your hunger because of trying to lose weight, 3) Serotonin imbalances. Serotonin is a chemical produced by the brain. If the serotonin levels in the brain are too low, you tend to develop cravings for carbohydrates, esp sweets and chocolate because eating carbs increases the serotonin levels in the brain. It may be a good idea to start eating a low glycaemic index (GI) diet as this would help to keep you satisfied for longer. Click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'The Glycaemic Index' and read the articles on the GI. If you have difficulties with applying a low-fat, low-GI diet please consult a clinical dietitian (visit the Association for Dietetics in SA Website at: www.adsa.org.za and click on "Find a Dietitian" to find a dietitian in your area), who will help you with an individual diet prescription. You can also visit the Website of the Glycemic Index Foundation of SA at: www.gifoundation.com to learn more about this type of diet. Combine the diet with daily aerobic exercise like brisk walking because the exercise also helps to improve your blood insulin and sugar levels. Make sure that you eat a low-GI carbohydrate at each meal.

Water water water. Not too much though, but have a full glass of water before you eat because sometimes when you think you' re hungry, you' re actually thirsty.
And if you still hungry it will help as you won' t eat as much and will get fuller quicker.
happy weight loss :)

Hey there,

Did you know that usually people who are trying to loose weight should accually eat at least every 3 to 4 hours and it is ok beacuse you are keeping ur blood sugar on right level....some people can go without a meal whole day but it doesnt mean that it is a right thing to do beacuse end of the day you will be tired cause ur suger level will go down you will be extremely hungry and that mean u will eat more than you should....
so really if your body is hungry thats mean that you have to eat something but maybe try to snack on helthy things, cut some carrots and keep it a side or small pieces of apple maybe some yogurt and little portion of muesli for breakfast which is low Gi and it will keep ur energy level for longer, drink plenty of water get urselfe some ricecakes and some fat free bread spread or evan u can use some plain jogurt on top of it just keep it simple but in the same time variety is very important and the way how ur food look as well and just take it easy:)))

good luck
