Our expert says:
It is possible that by not eating all day long or taking in so little energy, you are actually suppressing your weightloss systems. The body tends to shut down its weightloss systems when it perceives that it is in 'starvation mode'. Other factors that could play a role are hormone imbalances (thyroid, insulin and female hormones, if this should apply) or depression.
It is more sensible to eat 3 larger or 6 small meals a day which are low in fat and energy and high in dietary fibre to ensure that your metabolism remains stimulated and that you don't develop deficiencies. Adding aerobic exercise like skipping, swimming, jogging, etc for 30 min a day will also stimulate your metabolism. If you think you may be suffering from a physiological or psychological problem that is hampering your weightloss, please have a medical checkup and discuss these potential problems with your dr.
