White Rabbit (red eye) has a closed eye with white-yellow pus discharge

Hi

My White Rabbit (red eye) has a closed eye with white-yellow pus discharge. There are no rabbit vets in my area (JHB - Lenasia). How can I self treat this problem - and will it heal?

What else can I do?

Thanks.

Dear Naeem

Sounds like a Pasturella infection. Needs antibiotics and eye drops, preferrably Tiacil. No other cure or treatment.

There is no such thing as a ' rabbit vet'  - go to any vet.

Please also be advised that snuffles infections in rabbits are transmissible to humans. This can lead to pneumonia or blindness. Wash your hands well after handling the rabbit - and GO TO THE VET!
