Question
Posted by: Chanty | 2010/02/15

What is wrong with me?

I am tired all the time, even when waking up after 8 hours sleep. I have no energy, cannot concentrate and am very forgetful. I cannot seem to function normally, I fall asleep at work and am too tired to get through my daily activities. My father passed away as a result of Barlow' s syndrome (Mitral Hart valve syndrome) and I am not sure whether or not I have it too. I had my iron, thyroid, sugar, magnesium etc tested and there were no problems detected. I do have gastro-intestinal reflux.

How do I find out what I have or the treatment?

Please help me?

Hallo Chanty
It will do no harm to have your heart checked out, but other causes of chronic tiredness can be infections by viruses (like Ebstein Barr or Coxachie viruses), depression, vit B shortage. It may also be that you sleep but do not sleep deep enough due to sleep apnoea(ask your partner/family if you snore at night)
