Our expert says:
A well balanced vegetarian diet should not really cause weight gain. It is not the bread and rice (carbohydrates) in your diet that cause the weight gain, but the fats we eat with the carbs (such as oils, butter, salad dressings, mayonnaise, etc). One gram of carbs only provides your body with 16 kJ, while 1 gram of fat provides 37 kJ - a great difference. So the best way to lose weight is to reduce the amount of fat you eat (fat added during cooking and to vegetable dishes and salads, fat in nuts). Also start doing regular exercise (brisk walking, skipping, swimming, cycling, rowing, or spinning, etc) for at least 30 minutes a day to shed those kg.
