Weight loss and hypothyroidism

Hi

I have an underactive thyroid and i am over weight, I find it very hard to loose weight is there any diet you could reccomend? I do lead a fairly active lifestyle.

I am on eltroxin and have been for about 15 years and i have blood tests done twice yearly to monitor this.
