Weight gain

My 3 year old female sterilised Jack Russel has gained weight the past few months. Her diet has not changed. Could there be other reasons for this?

Hi Karin

Unfortunately when an animal is spayed they can put on weight. This may be associated with the loss of the sex hormones. I advise that you change the diet to that of a light diet or a reduction diet to mantain the correct condition score.

Kind regards
