Water retension

I started gym 3 mths ago. I am of a slim build, 40 and fairly active even before joining gym. I always seem to have swollen ankles. I have recently noticed that I don''t have any swelling anymore. Could this be a result of going to gym?

Exercise improves circulation and therefore, less swelling of the feet.
