Vitamin A

This question is more out of curiousity than anything else :)
Vitamin A is given to babies and toddlers as a immune booster, but only up until age 5. Children above 5 years and especially adults are not allowed to consume this vitamin at all. Why is that?

Hallo Carol
It is not that it is not allowed, but oily vitamins like A, D, E and K is not rinsed out of the body if you take in too much and can cause toxicity. You find Vit A in liver, eggs, butter and oil ( of which older kids and adults usually take in more than enough) You also get it in sweet potatoes, butternut and carrots. The small amount you get in an average multivitamin is more than enough unless you are on a type of diet where you do not eat any of the above mentioned foods
