Dear Anonymous
There are many causes for vertigo, most episodes are temporary and not dangerous. The most common cause is benign labyrintitis - an inflammation in the middle ear probably due to a recent viral infection. Other causes could be Menier's disease, structural problems in the middle ear or in the balance centre of the brain.
