v-shape

hi doc. How does one get that v-shape in the quad above the knee? Most cyclists have it, but is it from cycling or is it genetic?

Hi dw

It's partly genetic, but if you consider who you see it in - elite cyclists, who ride maybe 4 to 6 hours a day, then you see that it's down to huge training volumes. Of course, some people will develop that definition sooner than others, but it's certainly a training adaptation. The genes provide the canvas, but the training is key.

Good luck
