Upper respiratory tract inf. - OTC meds

Hi Cyber Doc

About twice a year I suffer from a sore throat which then becomes sore ears and a snotty nose. My GP has diagnosed me with an upper respiratory tract infection each time and sent me home with antibiotics. I really don' t like taking antibiotics because of the side effects (mostly thrush).

These symptoms are coming on again now. Is there something over the counter that I can take?
