Hi Louise, thank you for the question.
Botox can be used in the lower eyelid area safely as long as the injector is experienced with the application of Botox in this area and if there are no contra-indications.
The under eye area is a difficult area to treat and both non surgical and surgical solutions exist. Surgery is indicated if there is excess loose skin and/or a ‘fatty bag’ that has developed just below the eyelids. If the tear trough has formed a groove one may need to consider a filler to replace the fat loss. If the lines are purely due to collagen and elastin loss one may need to consider laser skin rejuvenation such as Fraxel or the Ultrapulse FX. Occasionally patients need a combination of treatments to get the best results.
Your best option is to consult an aesthetic practitioner or cosmetic dermatologist or a plastic surgeon that can examine the area of concern and advise you on the appropriate treatment regime.
