In addition to the 1% that is paid by the worker, the employer also contributes 1% in respect of each worker in his/her employment. The total contribution that is paid is therefore 2%. All employers who are required to register their workers with SARS for the payment of PAYE (Pay As You Earn) and/or SDL (Skills Development Levy) must also register with SARS for their UIF.You will need to comply with the pay regulations as set out by the labour law as well in terms of minimum wage/salary.I know - this is a very tidious process but if you want to comply with the law, then you have to do it so...I am going through this process as well.
