While the patient has a high fever and no appetite, high energy, high proteien foods can be given ( custard, yogurt, soup, juices, jelly) with enough fluids, small meals 2-3 hourly. As soon as the patient feels a bit better and fever is down, soft, low fibre, easily digestible foods can be given like refined cereals, well cooked fruit and vegetables, potatoes, egg, soft cheese, chicken, fish.
Avoid whole wheat food, fried food, spices and condiments, vegetables that can cause bloating like cabbage.
