tuberculosis

Hi,

My friend's wife is 20 weeks pregnant. They just found out that their maid has TB so obviously she has been exposed to it.

Is there reason to panic?

Dear Izzy
They both need to go for baseline TB screening - Lung x/rays ( she must tell them that she is pregnant so that they can put a lead apron over her belly), as well as PCR TB test if possible or else a sputum test. If their employee takes her medicine regularly she will not be infective after about 2-3 weeks and can carry on working.
