Tsetse Fly Bites

I am severely allergic to tsetse fly bites and weeks after I''ve been bitten I still itches...the bite marks eventually looks like chicken pocks and it constantly weeps, the moment it starts to weep it starts to itch, eventually it becomes a vicious cycle of scratching and itching. No tablets seems to help, there is no preventative repellent and the only solutions seems to use cortisone ointment after I have been bitten. any suggestions We travel often to Tanzania.

Dear Tillia,

This was taken from Drive out magazine:
Wear Anything but blue and black colours!. Keep windows closed next to rivers.
Wear thick clothes with long sleeves.
Use tabard spray hourly on skin and thinner clothes.
As an addition spray clothes with Vital Guard Frabic spray.

For your reaction take antihistamine medication prior to departure and daily.

If this does not work then Depo cortizone injection prior to departure!

Remember if you develop a chancre from a bite get tested for sleeping sickness.
