Possession is nine tenths of the law they say, so it is always advisable to stay as long as possible. However when there is abuse it may not be advisable to stay under the same roof as your spouse. So it all depends on the circumstances.

Best advice if dont move out unless there is some sort of abuse because once you are out it is almost impsooible to get back in.

If you do happen to move than ensure that you do the following

1.) make copies of all documents (title papers, insurance, receipts etc.). if possible keep the originals.
2.) change the benificary on all insurance policies that you have.
3.) make a detailed inventory of everything in the house. use a camera or cam corder if you need to.
