Our expert says:
Your pain and discomfort is caused by the primary bite site of the tick. This is causing an infection with localised cellulitis. You will have to consult your doctor for treatment of the site, as it can become severely painful and inflamed. If tick bite fever is expected, your doctor can do a blood test to confirm this. Tick bite fever can easily be treated with oral antibiotics.
