Apart from the symptoms what tests can be taken to check the condition?

Dear Dennis
If you have thyroid problems, your medical doctor will send you for blood tests to determine your T3, T4 and thyroid stimulating hormone levels which will indicate if your thyroid is over- or underactive or normal.
In some cases further investigations such as thyroid sonars or X-rays after intake of radioactively marked iodine can be used to determine the size of the thyroid and if there are any tumours, etc.
