Oral thrush is a yeast infection and is not a transmittable disease. It is part of the normal flora of the gastrointestinal tract and can be troublesome when there is an over accumulation of the yeast, especially in people who are immune compramised. Oral herpes is a viral infection that is highly contagious and is usually transmitted by kissing. A person must have active herpes simplex to be able to transmit the virus.
