A piece of artwork is not meant to be seen with the naked eye for what it is but to be decoded and intepreted for the message being portrayed. I fail to understand why this portrait is an exclusion to the norm. There isn''t much hoolaboo about Zapiro''s showerhead yet this indirectly refers to the President''s sexuality. If we were to apply ourselves objectvely, we would look past the penis which by the way not defineth a man, and decipher the symbolism of the portrait itself, the reference of Zuma with fascism as the original Lenin portrait, but this one with a twist as he has carved himself a reputation based on his sexual prowess. Whether it is a black or white artist, we cannot have different standards ,art is art and let''s not racialise or genderise the intent. See the portrait for what it is. Tutu was also drawn depicted worse off in the nude in 2010 by a black artist but we didn''t hear of this hoolaboo. Now can we put the matter to rest? It''s been a very long 2 weeks. Reply to Anon Posted by: Anon 2 | 2012/05/23 unfortunately white males worst crimes we don''t read of them or see them in TV. Swaart gevaar is the problem here. The fact that coporate world here in RSA is dominated by white males showes that white males they are still regarded as head of families or have power over white women. But still that does not bother anyone. But should it be a black male in fornt sit people will start opposing. W.r.t. the genetiles story, I dont see any relationship between presidant life style and the pic, presidant is married to 4 wives not sleeping around. With rape story, I can safely say that those who still accuse Presidant of rape have hatre for the man. Because it was proven at the trial at the time beyond resonable doubt that he was ennocent. I don''t know what more do you want fro the man. Reply to Anon 2 Posted by: Speech | 2012/05/23 Black man resorting to verbal abuse or any kind of abuse to get his point across now that we are used. Black man please swear in your own language....kusheshe kucace ngubani ozodlula omunye ngentlamba! Reply to Speech Posted by: Speech | 2012/05/23 I have to say I am dissapointed at black man''s response my self unfortunately he claims to be very informed with current issues while ignoring a very blatant fact art is a reflection of the times. Wether he likes it or not respect is earned and few black men in power or off the street have warranted respect from the world let alone women . Classic example Charles Taylor whom was given authority what did he do with it?? He still refuses to take responsibility for his crimes. That is the kind of black men we have become accustomed to one who has complete disregard for the rules of society wether it''s a simple question of buying bread in his household, paying pap geld, adhering to marriage vows, providing shelter. You name it....they are far and few between. FACT! Reply to Speech Posted by: tebogo | 2012/05/23 Lol Baby that''s a typical black man''s response need I say more. They resort to swearing words and beating if things are going their way. we are not saying white men are angels but they are better than black men.Zuma doesn''t abuse this women they r opportunists. Reply to tebogo Posted by: Black Man | 2012/05/23 I will say this for the last time have facts before u can accuse ppl. U know f*ckin nothi, these rape things of babies are wrong & I''m not condoning them but single out black men? Ur havin a lough.. It happens to all races around the world. Just beacause u have never come across it doesn''t mean it does not happen. Just stick to speciifics but it will seem u have srious problems abt black men. FYI I have nothing against black women for that matter. I just take exception to ppl who r uncivil & babaric.. Ur generalizing is very offensive. Just read what u have written & tell me if u say nothing wrong with what u said? Reply to Black Man Posted by: Baby | 2012/05/23 That is exactly what black men do, belittle women into talking about soapies when they raise issues affecting them. Our vaginas are supposed to suffer in silence as they abuse babies from as young as 6 months, we cannot say anything. Black men you need to wake up and do something about your conduct it just cannot continue. From dragging teenagers and making them prostitutes whilst feeding them drugs, the black woman and child is under threat from you black men. We cannot keep quiet anymore. Mr President is not making anything better by parading different women for different functions, whether he calls them wives or girlfriends it is wrong fullstop. Reply to Baby Posted by: Black Man | 2012/05/23 Which woman did Zuma abuse & who is ur source? It is not the duty of mothers to teach men how to talk to women. Eintlik where do u come from being so ingnorant. Did u just crawl out of a cave or what? Unbelievable if iu ask me... Maybe stick to gossiping abt soapies this is not clearly ur territory.. Next think twice b4 u speak Reply to Black Man Posted by: Black Man | 2012/05/23 U must know 1st how to speak to men. Not me, I''m just responding to ur pathetic generalization... Just bloody be civil.. I repeat, I take serious offence to that kind of generalizing. I have nothing with what another person does... So if some1 hit a woman u can''t therefore incriminate me on the basis that cos he is of my skin colour I''m also guilty..I disagree with that. Reply to Black Man Posted by: Baby | 2012/05/23 You see Black man you are falling exactly to the stereotype, did your mommy teach you to talk to women like that? You should never ever talk to a woman like that no matter how angry you are. I can imagine if you are married your wife must make sure you never get angry otherwise you will call her all sorts of names as you did me. I know nothing about white people but the stories that come everyday on the media are of black men and I am also black therefore I live with them. I will never comment about white men. Zuma is a woman abuser and we should speak against it, whether he likes it or not together with the whole batch of black men that are supporting him and the buttered black women who are either supporting or keeping quiet. Reply to Baby Posted by: Black Man | 2012/05/23 Voetsek wwena Baby wa masepa. Who f*ckin gave u authourity to judge black men? Ru God. Go hell b*tch. Is there no abuse in white race by white men. Just f*ckin stick to the point & stop being ingorant & generalising. I seriously take offence to that kind of attitude. U should know better. If u were not born black to f*ckin play stupid god to us. Reply to Black Man Posted by: Baby | 2012/05/23 When are you going to wake up and realise that black men especially South African black men have no regard for women especially black women. Wake up and spend a day in court one day and see how many men are there on charges of rape. You will then see that your so called president is not helping with his life style. We need women to stand up and say no to this abuse, where are we going to hide our children? Reply to Baby Posted by: Precious | 2012/05/23 I know, Baby....Im interested to know when did Brett paint this after Khoza girl''s second pregnancy or what?Art, like poerty sends a strong message and makes you think out of the box BUT this one sends the message TOO LOUD hence it unsettles many SAs.Now SA''s have made someone rich by raising his bar in the artwork - I love art, have never heard of him, now hes made history! Reply to Precious Posted by: Baby | 2012/05/23 Oh I saw that in the Sunday Times this past weekend. They say respect is earned Precious, it does not come with age, would you respect a man who has raped you just because he is older than you? South African women need to come together and condem this abuse of women by the President, whether he calls it marrying them or just having children with them it is abuse and must come to a stop. Reply to Baby Posted by: Brendan | 2012/05/23 Same thing Baby and just as recently. Some lady painted a pic of the Canadian pres reclining naked on a sofa. Reply to Brendan Posted by: Precious | 2012/05/23 The veiws expressed by its meaning are a reflection of the Pres lifestyle BUT putting it there is disrespectful. To think that Pres is the father and a bro to many and his manhood outside is disrespectful in our culture. We were brought up to respect elders, not to look at their private parts, to have that exhibited in a gallery nogal for everyone to see, is just not acceptable. Some white woman was saying, the painting is quite odd for her BUT if its was Mr Mandela, she would have been very angry & offended! Reply to Precious Posted by: Baby | 2012/05/23 I would love to read about that Brendan what is the dtory in Canada so that I can google it?
