Teenage Daughter''s First Period is Two Weeks Long

Hi there,

Please can you help. My 13 year old daughter started her first period two weeks ago. The bleeding started to taper off, but has come back heavier. It has lasted for two weeks.

I know that initially, periods and the length of them is erratic, as the body is getting used to this change.

When should I start to worry and take her to see our GP? This is something that she is a bit reluctant to do, especially at this age. She talks to me quite freely, which is how I know.

Many thanks,
Gillian
