Swelling heart

A cousin of mine found out that her heart was swolled and then the same night she died. What causes the heart to swell? How can this be checked? Is there treatment for this?

Hallo GT
A Swollen heart is usually caused by heart failure due to injury to the heart muscle ( like after a heart attack) Sometimes it is treatable, if the injury is not too bad or the cause is a reversable disease.
