Strange phlegm

Every so often I cough up very strange phlegm. It is completely white and has the consistency of cooked pasta (soft yet firm). What could be the cause of this?

Hallo Lillian
It may be flegm that builds up in one of the airways due to damage to the part of the lung. When it happens again, put it in a clean bottle and show your doctor. He may need to take x/rays of your lungs to check for bronchiectasis.
