Strange behaviour

Hi all

We have a our month old puppy who seems to hate going for a walk.

We' ve taken her for a walk every night after work for 3 weeks now and she does not seems very excited to go, like all the dogs I grew up with. As soon as they heard us tampering with the leash they would go mental.

When we walk with her, she seems ok and all, but the minute we turn around to go back, she starts sprinting and does not stop until we reach home. Like she can' t wait to get home. Why could this be? Shoudl we rather not walk with her anymore?

Dear LS

As you have not mentioned the breed it is difficult to advise you. What works best if the puppy is just a bit lazy is to walk with a hungry puppy with food in your hand. Good way to train them.

Simple answer - reward the correct behaviour, and ignore the negative behaviour.
She' ll get used to it, and will even start loving it. It is the best thing in the world for a dog to be taken for a walk daily - she could actually really be enjoying it, and because it makes her so content, she could ' seem'  to be not enjoying it. A calm submissive dog is a happy dog.
