stitch pain in area of heart

My son is 19 years old and from the age of 10 years he sometimes get a stitch pain in the area of his heart. When this happen, his heartbeat is not normal but slows down a bit. It''s not on a regular base and always happen when he is still standing or sitting. Sometimes it doesn''t occur for months.

It may be safer to have his heart evaluation for a prolapsing mitral valve or any leaking heart valves - your GP can do the basics (ECG and listening to heart sounds) and refer him if anything sounds or looks suspicious?
