Steven Robertson Syndrome

My brother has just been told that he has Steven Robertson Syndrome, all we know is that it attacks the membrane of the eyes nose and gums. It forms ulcer like sores and he can hardly see out of his eyes. He has had to have corrective surgery where small pieces of skin from the inside of his mouth was transplanted into the inside of his eyelids. What has cause this and why cant I find any information about this on the net.
