Started Walking

Hi Doc- I just want to know something:

if someone who at most got (AT MOST) 10 minutes of exercise a day started walking for 30-40 minutes 5 days a week, would weight loss be a given? Also, what does it mean if your legs twitch after you walk?

Hi Patricia

Not necessarily, because the other half of the equation is diet and so if you are not eating correctly, then you won't lose weight. if you start exercising and everything else is correct, then yes, you will. So short answer - you have to make sure tha tdiet is 100% correct, and that means seeing a dietician about it.

As for the legs twitching, when you use muscles that have never really been used before, then the nerves controlling the muscle, and the muscle, become fatigued and this affects how ell you can control the muscle. That is why it twitches - a loss of co-ordination of muscle control as a result of fatigue. But it will go away as you get stronger and fitter, so don't worry.

Good luck
