Dear Thando
If you need to lose weight then it would be a much better idea to cut down on fat intake because every gram of fat you eat, provides 37 kJ, while every gram of protein and starch only provides 17 kJ - quite a difference! Don't eat excessive amounts of any food, but do continue eating brown rice, unsifted maize meal and other low-GI starches to promote weightloss. Click on 'Diet & Nutrition' and 'Weight loss' and 'The Glycaemic Index' and read the articles on the GI. While you are on the 'Weight loss' section of the DietDoc site, also click on 'Healthy Diets' for examples of slimming diets that are balanced. Combine the diet with plenty of aerobic exercise to start losing weight.
Best regards
