spoon nails

good day. my son has spoon nails - fingers. he is 23 and still biting his nails, but tries to stop. now that the nails groe longer it has the spoon shape. do I need to do blood tests for underlying disease?

how serious is iron deficiency anemia? if it is confirmed, what kind of medication will it involve . will it help to give extra iron in the diet or multivit?
