Dear Joanne
Sodium cyclamate is not banned in SA and when it was banned in the 1980s in countries like the UK there was evidence that the research results the banning had been based on had been manipulated by rival organisations! It was quite a scandal. Also the ban was based on studies where rats (not humans) had consumed massive doses of cyclamate (like us eating a few kg of cyclamate every day, instead of a few mg), so cyclamate is now permitted in most countries again.
