snuffles

Adopted two 5 month old kittens from a shelter. They have had their vaccinations. There was an outbreak of snuffles just before i fetched them so the one has developed snuffles. He has been to the vet who has given him antibiotics but explained that it' s a virus, much like a cold in humans. I keep his eyes and nose clean and put him in the bathroom to steam. It' s been 9 days now and although it doesn' t seem to be as bad as it was, how long will this continue ? It' s horrible when they battle to breath.
