Smoking Weed and Bipolar

What sort of impact would smoking grass have on someone who has been diagnosed with bipolar. They say they are doing it for the calming effect.

You raise several aspects that are important. Smoking grass / weed is not good for the brain ; loads of experience and research confirm that. And of course being even dirtier chemically than tobacco, it's bad for the lungs, too.
Some people do of course find it has a calming effect for them. But Bipolar Disorder does not benefit from that sort of calming, and there are much cleaner and more specific chemicals, used as meds, which can help - some help the depressive parts of the disorder, some help to calm the highs more effectively, and some help to stabilize the mood overall.
