It usually takes about 10 days for the nicotine to flush out of your system - the craving may go on for a bit longer, especially if you drink lots of coffee or eat chocolates or use alcohol regularly. Try to avoid these drinks/foods in the beginning if you stop smoking. It may help to drink a good multivitamin supplement, lots of water or fruit juice and to get some exercise each day - even walking 30 minutes is enough ( to flush your system and help your lungs get rid of old built up toxins). Try to not eat a lot of sweets, rather eat a dried prune and keep the pip in your mouth to keep it busy if you feel you need to keep your mouth busy (or chew sugar free chewing gum)
