Hallo Annie
Most people will be discharged after a day or so, the doctor will ask you to keep the area closed and will check it himself after 48 hours. Then it is normally treated with paraffin gauze and antibiotic/antibacterial ointment. Depending on how big the area is you may need 3 -10 days sickleave.
