Skin diseases

Good day to you
My son was yesterday diagnosed with a skin condition called Palma Planta (something, something). I did not get the entire name. Please can you tell me what exactly this is and why it happens and how common it is and what should be done about it. Blood was drawn for all sorts of tests but we are waiting for the results before treatment can begin. My son is seriously being mocked and teased because of the way his hands and feet and elbows and knees look.
Please can you help.
Kind regards
