Side effects of Orelox

My 6 year grandson was on a course of the above a week ago for bronchitis. This morning when it was time to get up, he could not walk. The doctor says it''s because of the bronchitis but it is obvious to me what he really means is that it is a side-effect of the medication. Is Orelox the same as Avelox which is a fluroquinolone which has horrific side-effects including " paralysis" ? He is now on a course of cortisone and painkillers.

Hi Frances - No, Orelox is a different type of antibiotic (a cephalosporin, 3rd generation). Lack of strength or muscle weakness is a relatively rare, but known effect of this medication. It occur most frequently in adults over the age of 50, but after that, the age group 2-9 are the most common to present this symptom.

Thank you for the clarification. Should the cephalosporin type of antibiotic be avoided in the future and will the recovery be 100% do you think?
