Short term memory loss

My dad is 58 years old but started to loose his short term memory. He can remember what happened long ago but not things he said the day before. He has got low blood sugar and high blood pressure. Can this be related or what can be the reason? It is really serious and happens all the time.

Dear Anon
This can be due to low blood sugar or using certain medicines like statins or sleeping tablets, or he may have a brain problem like dementia. Ask your GP to refer him to a psychiatrist or neurologist for proper evaluation and futher tests if needed.
