Our expert says:
Making love and having sex should at all times be aimed at both parties enjoying it and are feeling physically comfortable. Further into pregnancy the focus should be on not putting too much pressure on the uterus or a partner’s full body weight on the pregnant belly and a position that is supportive of the type of sex you require. As your partner is 7 weeks pregnant and the pregnant belly is not yet prominently there you should not be too restricted to positions. As the pregnancy progresses there are different positions that would definitely be more comfortable. Pregnancy should not be an excuse for making love, but it will require the partners to be more creative, have a lot of humour, have more pillows available and be even more aware of both parties comfort.
Due to the hormonal and physical changes the pregnant women experiences it is crucial for constructive and sensitive communication during love making.
Positions that might be useful later on in pregnancy are:
• Spooning position
• Side-by-side position
• Woman on Top
• Rear entry position
• Edge of the bed position.
