Severe allergic reaction to food

My son has been getting hives with increasing severity. The hives are all over his body, and are accompanied by heart burn, stomach pain, foggy-headidness, difficulty breathing, and swollen tongue. We thought preserved meat was the trigger, but he had another episode last night. He did not eat any preserved meat, but had eaten meatloaf and a variety of other purchased foods at his Grandmother' s house. What is the best way to determine what preservative or additive is causing the problem? Is there a test for the common additives?

Dear Poppicat
Please take your son to a medical dr immediately so that the dr can arrange for him to undergo testing for food allergies. It is vital that you have him tested as soon as possible because there are hundreds of different allergens that people can be allergic to in food and you need to know what foods and drinks he must avoid because some of these allergic reactions can be so severe that they can be fatal.
Once the tests have shown which foods or preservatives or additives he has to avoid, we can look at the type of diet he should follow.
Take him to the dr ASAP
