secondary infertility?

Conceived in 2007, 2 mths after husband had a varicolectomy. We had a history of primary infertility and semen analysis over 2 yrs (2006-2007) showed varied count 10-40 million, motility 10-50% and morphology 3%. We conceived 2 mths after the varicocele operation.

We are trying to have another baby for over 2 yrs now and would like advice on whether we need to go back to the urologist to see whether the varicocele has returned? What are our options in this case? Also, is there anything which we can do, e.g. nutritional supplements which can improve sperm production.

Many thanks Dr.

Dear Nurah

A good starting point would be to do a repeat semen analysis and based on the results to decide whether consultation with an urologist is necessary. There maybe other ovulation related or pathology issues that may have surfaced in the interim and these need to be ruled out as well.
