retail\wholesale

my dad is employed as a general assistant in a retail store, today he was informed that this year there will be no increase in his hourly rate as " business has been bad" 
i know for a fact this is untrue, i have checked labour dept website but no luck. do u know the 2009 rate.

the rate is R9.99 for normal time, R14.99 overtime

Check at your local UIFoffice. They have all the facts. A lot of employers r using the economy as an excuse not to give increases. Your dad must just make sure he' s getting what is ritefully his + that he' s not being short changed. Many of the bosses are still living the high lifestyle while their staff are short changed. " Adverse economic + financial conditions"  are often used as excuses.
