Reducible Hernia

My son was born with one 9 years ago. It has never worried him. He recently started a full contact kickboxing sport, and i am scared that it might do any damage when he takes blows/kicks to the stomach area. It is just above his stomach, just beneath where his ribs join. Should i have t seen to, even tho it doesnt worry him.

Hallo Dianne
A hernia is a weak spot in the abdominal wall, where a piece of bowel/gut protrudes through, causing a soft swelling. If he gets a kick directly on this, it may damage the bowel, so maybe you should ask your doctor to refer you to a surgeon for an opinion.
