Rash?

Hi,
Pls excuse my ignorance, what is the difference btwn a rash, hives and ecsema (excuse the spelling) ie - how do I distinguish what ''rash'' I have. Also what causes or triggers hives? I have never had hives but I suspect I am experiencing a sudden outbreak. It comes and goes - has been for the last 2 weeks. - nothing new in terms of diet or creams.
