Question

I have had a hiatus hernia repair and have read that they do come undone. Does this always happen? What are the symptoms? Is there any way to prevent it?

Hallo Jane
It does not always happen but it could happen, especially in very overweight people. The symptoms would be a recurrence of your GERD symptoms - heartburn, bloated feeling etc. Prevention is basically keeping to a normal weight, not picking up very heavy objects (straining) and eating smaller meals more often than large meals 3 times a day.
