Both of the above are true but the actual physical examination is also important as the dr can then " feel"  if it is enlarged.The blood test is more to see if you might have cancer.

They can now do a test by drawing and annalizing your blood......I have been doing it for the last 5 years already!

Yes...most important to do this. your GP will lie you on your side, wearing gloves he will lubricate his finger, insert it up your rectum and feel the prostate gland for any abnormal signs. It takes about a minute or so that''s all.
